Building upon a solid foundation of authentic techniques learned in China, her free-spirited activities, fueled by her artistic sensibility, have been described as “no longer just Erhu, but a new genre called Haruyo Kimura.” Her expressive power, which evokes a sense of song even more than vocals, is her major appeal, earning her the title of “The Diva of the Erhu”

While successfully holding recitals of classical Erhu concerts, she also thrives as a rock and pop Erhu player, holding the permanent center position in “JADOH,” the world’s only Erhu rock band.

Her international acclaim, including performances at the Korea-Japan Exchange Festival (sponsored by the Korean government) in South Korea and on a special stage at the Mysore Palace in India, led to her feature in the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ quarterly magazine “Japan Calling” and the honor of being listed in the Ministry’s directory of cultural figures.

She has released numerous CDs and appeared in NHK radio dramas, films, and television programs, garnering extensive coverage from various magazines and newspapers.
